From the First Swipe to Forever

Our story began in the most millennial way: on the internet. #Hinge2Here Who would have known that a simple swipe in December 2022, with no expectations beyond good conversation and a bite to eat, would bring us here? When Nashyka agreed to meet Marion for their first date at Taco Bamba in Alexandria, Virginia, neither of us knew it would be the beginning of the life we’re now building together.

Before that first date came an unexpected FaceTime call, initiated by Marion, who was determined to stay connected while Nashyka enjoyed one of her escapes from the cold. What began with nerves and excitement ended with a sense of comfort and the feeling that there just might be something here. We still laugh about that initial swipe and smile remembering the first time our eyes met in person and how it felt to sit across from each other, breaking bread for the first time. An unexpected connection was becoming something special .As we got to know each other, it was the consistency, mutual respect, and shared desire for something real that drew us closer. We wanted a love rooted in faith, with God at the center. Through shared adventures, milestones, and challenges, we learned how to support each other, grow together, and find joy in everyday moments. Somewhere between an at-home sip and paint and a middle-of-the-night call during an illness, we knew we had found our person.

Then came December 24, 2024.

In Nashyka’s parents’ backyard, a familiar Christmas Eve tradition became a night we would never forget. There was surprise hair and makeup arranged by a best friend, family gathering from near and far in South Florida, and Nashyka’s little/big brother escorting her toward a hidden romantic garden—with a reminder to **#StandTall**.With Musiq Soulchild playing in the background, Marion spoke words of love and adoration before asking the question that would begin our next chapter. Through the surprise and tears of joy, the answer was an easy **yes! Now, we’re counting down to February 4, 2028, when we’ll say “I do” in beautiful Antigua, surrounded by the people we love. Our love of travel and our Caribbean connection made a destination celebration feel right. More than anything, we wanted time in paradise with our favorite people; to celebrate our union, reconnect, laugh, dance, and make memories together. We know joining us takes planning, and we appreciate every bit of your love and support. Whether you’ll be celebrating beside us in Antigua or cheering us on from home, we’re grateful you’re part of our story.
